After working several years as real estate agents for a local broker the brothers O'Rourke- Richard, Tom and Bob-decided to follow their entrepreneurial instincts and form their own company. That company was to become Gentry Realty.

The three brothers formed Gentry Realty in the year 1976. After pooling their resources the O'Rourkes purchased the property located on 145 W. Passaic Street in Maywood. The original location, which was formerly an insurance agency, has, after extensive renovation, become a three story state of the art facility. This facility contains private conference rooms, a reception area along with a comfortable lobby and the latest in computer technology. The Maywood office also contains in-house legal and financial services. A second similar office was opened on Liberty Street in Little Ferry back in 1980.

Gentry presently staffs 25 full-time agents who are both professional and courteous. Backed by one of the most extensive advertising programs in the industry, these agents have consistently out-produced all of the local competition. Some agents have been with Gentry for almost 20 years. Gentry continues to selectively recruit only the most talented of agents.

Gentry's attention to detail and its ability to adapt to an ever changing real estate market has turned Gentry into one of the most successful mid-sized companies in Bergen County. Gentry continues to adapt as it looks to the future.

Richard, Tom, and Bob are lifelong Maywood residents and in the spring of 2006 they celebrated the 30th anniversary of their successful venture which became Gentry Realty.
